Don’t miss the roar of the Chrysler 300 SRT Core
Few things in life get a petrolhead more revved up than the sound of a hefty V8 turning over. That first growl and the popping exhaust are all that's required to get the heaviest sleepers out of bed (and not just because of the volume!). The 6.4-litre HEMI V8 in the Chrysler 300 SRT Core roars with the best of them, and it's a comfortable car to boot.
That's what you want – a comfortable sedan that has major street cred and sounds like a racecar, and it's what you get in this brilliant car.
How grunty is the Chrysler 300 SRT Core?
As with all SRT-tuned cars, this model has plenty of get-up-and-go. The massive V8 engine throws down 350 kilowatts of power and a huge 637 Nm of torque, so when you put your foot down, you'll have the power to get going quickly.
The eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission with Rotary E-Shift means you'll fly through the gears without being thrown around the cabin. Once you get to the higher gears (efficiently, too), you'll save fuel because the engine won't be working as hard to keep the car moving. Even for a heavy V8, there is fuel-saving technology built-in.
For all of that power and noise (coming from four-inch rear exhaust tips), you need to be able to stop the car quickly. Brembo performance brakes come into play here, with four-piston brakes and slotted rotors front and rear for as much stopping power as you need.
How does the Chrysler 300 SRT Core look?
In terms of appearance, the SRT tuning team always makes aggressive tweaks to ensure the revamped models don't just blend into the crowd. An integrated rear deck lid spoiler and 20-inch alloy wheels give the car a strong profile, while the classic wide Chrysler front grille looks like it's eating the road.
Xenon head lights make the Chrysler 300 SRT Core look serious from the front, plus they offer safe vision of the road in dark conditions (more so than standard non-LED bulb lights). There's a real presence to this car, and you'll know as soon as you lay eyes on it.
