Rebirth of an icon: Honda NS-X slated for 2019 AU release

In 1984 Honda commissioned Italian car designer Pininfarina to conceptualise an advanced sports car, as fast as anything coming out of Italy and Germany at the time. The renowned designer had experience creating some of the world's fastest production cars, having previously worked with Ferrari and Maserati.

Later that year they birthed the NS-X (standing for New Sportscar eXperimental). In 1986 the car went into production featuring the world's first all aluminium monocoque body and a eading power -to-weight ratio.

Since then the Honda NS-X line has remained at the leading edge of production supercars, with another exciting advancement coming when the next generation is released in early 2019 right here in Australia.

Dual motors for ridiculous power

Most cars make do with one motor – the 2019 Honda NS-X has four. For starters there's a mid-mounted, twin-turbo, V6 petrol engine that belts out a ludicrous 500 hp and 646 Nm of torque. That's more torque than two Ford Ranger utes.

There's also three electric motors, which combine with the petrol powerplant to deliver a mind boggling 572 hp and 646 Nm of torque. All this power is harnessed by an advanced nine-speed, dual-clutch transmission, which provides near instant responsiveness.

New look boosts supercar appeal

The Honda NS-X line has always been attractive, but the 2019 iteration takes this to a new level. It's a sculpted aero-dynamic masterpiece. Smooth lines and aggressive curves melt around the car's body, with the front bumper so low to the road there's barely a gap.

New versions come in a bright new thermal orange pearl colouring which hints at the line's history of orange detailing and trim.

An improved driving experience

Driving a supercar is an unforgettable experience. To make sure the new Honda NS-X is too, the Japanese marque have modified the car's chassis and software to provide more stiff and repsonsive handling. New tyres have been specifically developed to fit the supercar, with a tread pattern and construction to improve handling.

You've never driven a car like the Honda NS-X. To experience the insane thrill of driving one for yourself get in touch with the team at Macarthur Honda in Narellan, or drop in to our dealership today.
